THE SOWERS: BOOK ONE

The Sowers: Book One is a graphic novel one-shot. It is a reflection of the messy, nuanced truths of life, drawn from my experiences as a queer, disabled Latine. Set in the fantastical world of Lorra, the story follows Alé, a young Titan soldier, and Ryvera, a dragon who ran away from her pride. Both characters grapple with trauma, societal pressures, and the weight of history, offering a powerful commentary on how even seemingly opposing groups share deeply similar struggles.

Some backstory: This entire project took about a year to complete as ideation + story ideas began in January 2024 and finalization occurred the 2nd week of September 2024. Because this was my Creative Thesis project to finish my BFA, I quite literally worked on production every day in September until early December— SUPER UNHEALTHY, I DON'T RECOMMEND! >___<;;) Please make sure to take breaks when working on large projects! --- In the meantime, here's a little more about what comes next, aka my current project: Cascades.

It’s a novel (for now) and the continuation of the mythos first introduced in The Sowers. Cascades is what happens when you’re left with memory, obsession, and the ache of things you can’t let go of...

--> At the center is Adrianna "Aria" Morales, a draconic neuroscientist who’s as sharp as she is controlling. Her work circles around D. Omira, a plant with occult links to the Lorran Creation God, Omiru—first hinted at in the note before The Sowers' prologue. But this plant isn’t just research—it’s a key. Aria’s chasing something deeper than data, even if she won’t admit it.

Then there’s Dominique, who’s... kind of a mess. She’s grieving, alone, and trying to find freedom in a city that doesn’t care if she drowns. When their paths cross, what starts as curiosity turns into something darker. Dom wants a way out. Aria wants to be seen. And in the space between them, one truth lingers: love built on control isn’t love at all.

Cascades is personal. It’s about guilt, and wanting to bring back something that maybe was never yours to begin with. It’s about turning mythology into flesh and watching it rot in real time. It’s not clean. It’s not heroic. But it’s real, and I’m proud of what I'm making.

I don’t have time right now for Book 2 of The Sowers, but I’m still working on the Lorraverse and hope to turn both books into graphic novels one day with the proper love and support. <3
